Every module we design consists of carefully-selected quality components. No module is ever shipped from our production facility in Denmark without passing through a rigorous set of climate chamber tests.

Crafted in Denmark
Thermonova was founded in 2016 by Mads Hougaard and Steen Fristrup – heat pump manufacturing veterans with decades of experience drawn from Scandinavia’s rich and pioneering heritage in heat pump technology.
Rather than focus on domestic or large industrial applications, Mads and Steen decided to address an under-served gap in the market – commercial, agricultural and light-industrial end users looking to reduce carbon emissions and heating costs while also achieving climate control excellence.
Unique market position
Based on natural refrigerants, high performance and uncompromising quality, our breakthrough Nova Series product – designed and produced at our own production facility in Denmark – was introduced to the Scandinavian market in 2019.
Since then, we have established a unique position in Scandinavia as the go-to technology for sustainability-driven retrofits and for heating multi-office buildings, agricultural facilities, warehouses, district heating networks, housing associations, large hotels, medium-scale factories, sports complexes, and the like.

Mads Hougaard
Mads co-founded Thermonova in 2016 and has been instrumental in shaping the company and growing the organisation. Currently Chief Executive Officer and responsible for the overall direction and leadership of the company, Mads has been working in the Danish heat pump manufacturing business since 2009.

Steen Fristrup
Steen co-founded Thermonova in 2016 and currently acts as Chief Technology Officer with a particular focus on after-Sales. Having worked in the Danish heat pump manufacturing business since 2000, Steen has an in-depth understanding of both heat pump technology and the needs of end-customers.

Solar Group's Industrial Solutions division currently handles sales of Thermonova products in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Poland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands. Thermonova focuses on sales activities across the rest of Europe as well as further product development.
